So another week down and I’ve now completed 9 weeks of Lighter Life which is almost exactly 2 months.
It’s not been a perfect week and I had one or two glitches including some toast today which has kicked me out of ketosis. The toast today was yet again down to habit – I was in the house, a little bored, and did what I would have done without a second thought a few months ago. I obviously felt bad afterwards but was honest about it tonight and is just something I need to keep working on.
The biggest highlight since my last update was that last Monday I went to Drayton Manor Theme Park. Jacob (age 9) is now getting more into fast rides and previously this would have been a scary experience and I would not have gone on the rides through feel of the harness not fitting and getting kicked off the ride. This time I went on nearly every fast ride there was and had a bloody brilliant time… felt great about it I have to say.
This week in class we went over “old” habits and “new habits” – things that have changed either now or what you will do when you have finished. Here were a couple I wrote down:
- Client Entertainment – In my job I spend a lot of time with clients and have a number of the times taken them out for lunch or drinks rather than sitting down in a meeting room to get to know them a bit better in a more relaxed way. Now instead of suggesting a steak I suggest a tea or coffee in a nice place around the corner from the office..
- Weekends – Previously I’ve spent a lot of weekends “chilling out” – aka sitting in front of a sofa watching a film with the kids. Over the past few weeks we’ve spent a lot more time out and about – visiting new parks and generally just trying to keep activate and keep away from the food in the house!
There were a couple of others too but overall it’s quite nice to see some of the new “habits” appearing and the plan is to keep these up long after I’ve finished with Lighter Life.
So now time for weight loss update… This week I lost another 5lb – bringing the total lost to 54lb – just 2lb away from the 4st mark! This brings me down to 17st 8lb and means I’m most likely around 2 weeks away from being under 17st for the first time in at least the past 10 years.

FINAL GOAL – Loose 140lb (10st) – Reward – Wedding Ring
PROGRESS: 54lb gone – 91lb to go (39% gone) – 18% of original weight lost
Also because another month has gone I’ve also had another measurement check and this week the results are really quite exciting. In the past month since the last check I’ve lost 5cm across my chest, 10cm across my waist and 7cm across my hips – that brings the total lost across two months to:
Chest: 12cm – 4.7inch
Waist: 18cm – 7inch
Hips: 11cm – 4.3inch
Finally I’m going to try and mix things up a little this week as I found a list of Lighter Life “Unofficial Recipes” on a forum. The full list can be found here, but here’s the one I’ve just tried:
Black Forest Gateau Smoothie
Put 10 ice cubes, 1 chocolate pack, 8oz water and 1.5tsp of fruits of the forest flavoring into a mixer and blend.
