Week 5 Weigh in and Measurements update

It’s funny how things are starting to change.

Whilst I enjoy my job, like most people I have always counted down the days until the weekend where I can spend time with the family.   This hasn’t changed – but another countdown has developed – the countdown towards Tuesday night where I get to see what I have achieved in terms of weight loss for that week.

I think the fact that you if you stick to the plan you always lose a lot of weight each week has caused this, especially because on previous diets such as Slimming World the feeling was more dread than excitement most weeks!

This week was a big week for me as it marks a month completed and am at the point where I get measured for the first time to see what has happened outside of the actual weight loss.  So lets start with these.

Chest – 7cm lost
Waist – 8cm lost
Hips – 4cm lost

It’s hard to say if I am happy with that or not – because I honestly didn’t know what to expect but I do feel that some of my clothes are less tight than they were and hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll be forced to buy some more!   Will be interesting to see what this looks like in another month.

In terms of the weight loss itself…. This week I lost another 5lb – which is pretty consistent as it is exactly the same as the past two weeks!   This brings my total weight loss so far up to 36lb – hitting the next “tier” of my targets.  My original aim was to lose 3st by the 28th October and it’s looking likely that I’ll do this with one or two weeks to spare, which I’m pretty pleased about!

Another thing that I noticed last week but didn’t blog about is that with 31lb hit last week it meant that I had lost 10% of my weight in 4 weeks – something that made me feel quite proud and motivated during this week.

I don’t like to talk about what my weight actually is or was – and have only in the past few years revealed this to my wife – but to put things into context when I started this journey just a month ago I weighed in at 21st 6lb.   There is no doubt about it in my mind that this was putting pressure on my heart and something bad may have happened.   Today I was under 19st for the first time in years and I know that I am only 3 or 4 weeks away from being under 18st for the first time in a very, very long time.    It’s quite difficult writing this, and I don’t imagine that many people read my ramblings on here, but still feels quite nice that I can be open for the first time about the situation that I found/find myself in.

Target 1 – Lose 14lb (1 stone) – Reward – Destiny for Xbox One – DONE
Target 2 – Lose 25lb – DONE 23/09/14
Target 3 – Lose 35lb – DONE 07/10/14
Target 4 – Lose 50lb
Target 5 – Lose 70lb
Target 6 – Lose 85lb
Target 7 – Lose 100lb
Target 8 – Loose 110lb
FINAL GOAL – Lose 115lb (8st 2lb) – Reward – Wedding Ring
PROGRESS: 36lb gone – 79lb to go (31.30% gone)

The biggest challenge I face this week is actually tomorrow – as I am off to HQ and driving up for the first time since starting the Lighter Life plan – which means 6-8hours in the car in one day without any redbull or sugar fix!  I’m planning on taking plenty of water and stopping for a peppermint tea on the way to give me a bit of a caffeine fix!
