Had an interesting meeting today. It’s clear that I still have issues with food and sometimes I really wish that I could understand why my brain works in the way in which it does. The habit is starting to change but it’s taking longer than I would have hoped.
Let’s look at tonight to give an idea about what this means..
I was not confident (after weighing myself at home) that I would drop as much weight as what I wanted, or even that I would lose any at all. In my mind I was thinking to myself that if I didn’t lose more than 2lb, I would stop at the garage (or even the kebab shop!) and buy something “real” to eat. Thankfully I didn’t actually do this – but I’m not sure if that is because I discussed it at group – or because I lost more than the 2lb that I set.
During group we discussed this and the concept was that my mind was suggesting some form of “punishment” for not hitting my target. It perhaps wasn’t the first time that I’ve considered punishing myself in this way and this is an example of why I have such a bad relationship with food and why the weekly sessions are helping to address this.
In terms of the week itself – it was pretty good. I had a minor blip on one day where I eat some chicken (I have no idea what drove me to do so) but I have added more exercise and have been for a couple of swims where I’ve done 40+ min without stopping. My appointment with the PT to start the cardio is on Sunday and I’m actually pretty excited about this.
This week I lost 4lb in total – still a bit less than I had hoped, but overall not bad and it helped bring my total to over 60lb lost so far. This means I’m still on track to hit my original target by mid-Feb 2015, which isn’t very far away when you think about it. Next week I should hit 4 1/2 st lost and with any luck I am not just two weeks away from hitting 5st. Exciting times. The other big thing this week is that I have now lost exactly 20% of my total weight when I started… which I am pretty chuffed with.

PROGRESS: 61lb gone – 79lb to go (43.6% gone) – 20.33% of original weight lost
