So here we are – week 25… almost half a year of eating pretty much nothing and mostly having 600kcal per day…
I’ve not updated the blog for a few weeks but a fair bit has changed so it’s really time for an update and time to try and motivate myself into updating a bit more often.
The week back from the US trip actually went pretty well – I lost 10lb in the following week so I was back on track and had managed to stick to the plan fairly well. The subsequent two weeks however were not as good and I found it really tough to stick to it – my motivation had gone and I was getting pretty bored of the chocolate shake (the only one I really liked) and the toffee and fudge bars… LighterLife also isn’t the cheapest of diets so it was costing me a fortune to lose 1 or 2lb a week. To give an idea it was about £60 for the food and £15 for the counselling / weigh in – which has obviously been worth it as I’ve lost almost 90lb.
So earlier this week I decided I needed a change.
I really like Lighter Life. It has really helped change my life and given me more confidence than I’ve ever had in my adult life.
But I do wonder if they have got a bit lazy and taken things for granted – perhaps because of the increased concentration on their 5:2 plan and Superdrug deal.
Other competitors are coming out with different packs and flavours and offer amazing online support but LL don’t seem to have changed anything in the 6 months that I have been there, other than bringing in some jelly. I honestly think that they need to up their game plan a litte.
So I’ve moved supplier. I went out on Wednesday night to a restaurant to a Gordon Ramsey restaurant and took a day off and had an amazing steak that I appreciated more considering the amount of time it had been since I last eat such a thing!
And today I started the new plan. I ordered a bunch of different options from Slim & Save whose meal choices is so much more varied – to give an example the have 18 shake flavours compared to LL’s 4.
I’ve also opted to go for a 3 pack a day option with a small high protein meal instead of four packs which adds on about an extra 50kcal per day but I think will make a big different to my life and help me stick to the plan. I’m excited about the change but if the weight loss doesn’t continue then I know I can go back to Lighter Life if needed.
I still need to think of a nice way of explaining this to my councillor though who has been massively supportive so far..
On another note the exercise regime does continue to go well. I’ve kept up with doing a 5k on Saturdays and last week got my time down to 34 minutes from the original 44 when we started earlier in the year. I’m also happy to say that I got through the ballot for the Ride 100 London on the 2nd August which is a 100 mile cycle lasting around 8hrs in the middle of summer. Did I just say happy? Lots of training to do for this but exciting times none the less and something to aim towards which will hopefully keep me on track.

Target 8 – Loose 115lb (original goal)
Target 9 – Loose 125lb
FINAL GOAL – Loose 140lb (10st) – Reward – Wedding Ring
PROGRESS: 89lb gone – 51lb to go (63.6% gone) – 29.67% of original weight lost
So I have now gone past target 6 and next week I should have lost over 30% of my original weight… Time to start looking around for a tattoo I guess..
